Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Relic

This stone is at the water’s edge of Lahaina Harbor on Maui. A low back chair among churning waves. Hawaiian royalty gave birth here as early as the 1400s. If heirs were not born here they would forfeit all that went with being royalty (read that somewhere).

The waves move in to do its part.

Can you imagine giving birth here?

I wonder if the sounds of the crashing waves did much to bring calm to the experience of giving birth.

Photos taken on Lahaina on Maui in may of this year.
