CHRISTMAS CAROLS
Before Christmas dawn
Heralding the new born King
Carolers from church
It’s Christmas morning
I know I have been naughty
Hope Santa is nice
Walking in the dark
While Singing Christmas carols
I hold my mom’s hand
As a child, at Christmas time, members of our church would go caroling all throughout the Christmas season. By this I mean standing out in the front of peoples homes, singing Christmas carols. It was usually at nights, the blackest of nights, it probably wasn’t but that was the perception. I was not fond of the dark, so I held fast to an adult hand. I made sure I did not get lost, left behind, or collected by the boogey man! I wonder is people still do that, a wandering band of carolers.

It was a rich experience. Carolers showed the way to be friendly under trying or even adverse conditions. Thanks for sharing jazzy!

You’re right..it does mean more to a kid. I remember Christmas Carols on the radio all day during the Christmas holidays. And yeah, I was a good kid, a little bit of a whimp. But I grew outta that :)-

I have caroled in neighborhoods, malls, senior centers, on the subway, in church, and every experience is warming and you always seem to gather a few smiles…

Good, I am glad the practice is still alive. Not around here though. :)-

Here in The Netherlands we don’t know Carolers … but we have several concerts around Christmas in which choirs, singers and musicians are telling us the story of Christmas.

It was a different time. Now I think the whole thing is more like what’s done there. All lovely just the same.
