SUNLIGHT

lounging  under tree

feel of dancing sunlight and shade

with eyes closed I dream

sunbeam on lids as leaves shift

at the will of gentle breeze

Prickly

wpid-wp-1424543037263.jpeg

PRICKLY

Dragged out by the feet

Kicking and screaming

That’s how he came into this world

He has lived life like that ever since

Contentious, rambunctious, a ‘my way

is the only way outlook”

Age and lessons learned had little impact

He was who he  was

There was no changing this

How Lonely

Written in response to Carpe Diem Prompt

Lesser Ury. Woman at Writing Desk, 1898. WikiArt

For today, our host writes,

we return to our featured poet, Fuyuko Tomita. Here is a wonderful tanka I think we can all relate to:

さんさんとそそぐ朝日の文机に遺す未完の歌ぞ淋しき

Sansan to/ sosogu asahi no/fuzukue ni/ nokosu mikan no/ uta zo samishiki

How lonely I would be
left behind on my desk
an unfinished poem
in the glorious morning sun

© Fuyuko Tomita

Our host’s response:

at the bird feeder
three cardinals are squabbling –
a love triangle?

the poem that nudges my ribs
is fading with the laundry
(Paloma)

My response

shadow of a poem
still looking like a mirage
outline shimmering

how lonely being stuck indoors
will let it breathe for today
