Choka, Japanese Long Form Poetry
the heat has vanished
first cool day of late summer
my thoughts turn to fall
cool crisp air and turning leaves
oranges, reds, browns
trees thin, branches reappear
falling leaves rustle
in the autumn wind bringing
a shift in sounds in nature
(envoy or hanka)
true love of autumn
the start of spending time by
the fire, entwined
rekindling the romance
reaffirmation of vows
