Writer’s Quote Wednesday

Here are my contributions for today. I love these. Feels more like it’s about the art of writing.

“Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass”

Anton Chekhov

When that happens…it’s magic! Don’t you agree?

“You never have to change anything you got up in the middle of the night to write”.

Saul Bellow

I relate more to this one. When it so happens that I do have to get up in the middle of the night to get something out of my head. I make a conscious effort not to edit it out of existence. Sometimes I succeed.

  1. I love your quotes! I can feel the inspiration! My favorite is: “You never have to change anything you got up in the middle of the night to write.” That is so perfect. I dream-write. I can wake up in the middle of the night with the best prose! You nailed it this week! Well done! ❤

  3. I particularly like the Saul Bellow quote. It became true for me. When I was writing my debut novel, Eleven Miles, I woke up in the middle of the night with the perfect ending buzzing around in my head. I got up at 3:30, wrote it and laid it aside to change when I could get around to it. I never did change it. It went into the end of the final chapter exactly as I wrote it.

Actually, reading it back even now still makes me cry! If you ever read it, you’ll know why.
