Spring Haibun

thoughts and entanglements

Spring has come to the mountains. On my last visit to Ole Rickety the snow was a foot deep. Now, there is grass beneath my feet. The forsythia bushes are a blaze of yellow. The bird’s nest hidden in its center is no longer visible. The nudity of the twin maples are gone, their tremoring leaves casting dappled sunlight. Above the rustle of the leaves in the breeze, bird songs are coming from everywhere.
