Pat, I love your thoughts about autumn representing the ending and the beginning. That is a great way to look at fall. Well done. Did the instructions on how to write a tanka and incorporating your feelings help? ❤

Yes it sure did! Other things I read on tanka just said follow with same thought, or take it elsewhere after the pivot. Your explanation made me get it. Thanks. Another thing I read said it was a form of writing love notes to a secret love. I’m not sure how that fits in. Interesting though.

Haiku was meant to be about nature and Tanka was meant to be about “feelings.” What greater emotion than love… and hate. ❤
