Something is going on with my black eyed susan. Something funky! Looks like it’s growing another head, or a hat? I never grew them before. The coolest thing about them is that I planted them as seeds early last spring and by summer, I had flowers. Very cool!!
So now, when I thought they should by dying down…I noticed the various stages above. Maybe I just wasn’t paying close enough attention the first time around and this has all happened before.
Does anyone know what is going on?? It’s all very interesting and makes for great photos.

Has it rained a lot and then had sun? I wonder if the seeds that should have fallen, sprouted right where they were?

Wow, I wonder if that’s what happened..I remember it being dry for a while, with a little rain lately..I have to go talk to someone at the botanic garden. Thanks : )

Just thought it because I had set aside some beans in their pod to dry in our back porch. The weather had been so humid, when I finally remembered to go get them, the pods had split and they were growing seedlings.

I found out what this anamoly is..the seeds were totally dry in place. Then it got wet and started to sprout. He has seen this before but not on this particular plant…Yippee, mystery solved. I think I’m going to cut it and stick it on a pot, see what happens : )
