By the fire, I watch flames leap around logs.
Before long, I am removed from surrounding antics
I find myself focused as I come to terms
with the passing of another year.
It feels different –
That cloak of darkness is absent.
I am grateful.

I love when I can see that light in darkness… it takes the right type of fire to survive the winter.

I’ve experienced that same thing. 2017 lay under a cloak of darkness. 2018 has offered me new hope. Happy New Year.
