a scene evokes a thought –
a kernel of a poem
pausing to jot something down –
shadow of a poem
enduring odd stares as I come back –
caught in the moment
grabbing a poem by the tail before it dissipates –
the birth of a poem

So recognizable. Walking two dogs who jerk the leash as I scribble a few words that come to me. People do stare. We are a bit weird, you know.

Thank you….I always try to find a photo to fit my poem. Sometimes it fits, sometimes it doesn’t😊

I like this muchly. My few neighbors know me because I am the yutz walking looking at sky, at the pebbles, writing and scribbling and meandering off into a ditch or mailbox. I like the kernel, shadow, and birth of a poem.

Poems do seem to dissipate if they are not caught and written down.

Yeap. And sometimes I retreive them the old fashioned way by retracing my steps/thoughts and not moving on till they come back. The old fashioned way☺

Those moments can dissipate or take off if you don’t write them down. Nice quadrille Pat.

Sometimes poems are born exactly this way… catch them before they sneak away

Sometimes they do that so quickly.☺

I know all too well about ‘chasing that tail.’ It’s hard when they get away!

…and if we don’t grab it “by the tail” our brain races on to the next thought and it’s gone forever! So true!
