birds have gone silent
they too are caught up
in the melody of the rain
nature walk interrupted
as may flowers and young leaves
dance in spring rain

Now, that is the kind of interruption I would like — I love that dancing flowers’ image and the atmosphere of quietude but for those raindrops falling, in this verse.

I like the thought of flowers and leaving dancing in rain. I often think rain must annoy them, but now I don’t see why it would.

You have peonies already! We don’t even have buds and I’m getting anxious. I love the thought that the birds are ‘caught up in the melody of the rain’.

First came the tiny buds, then the ants:) I’ve noted that the bigger the flower gets, the fewer ants. Must look that up:) Don’t worry, they’ll come:)

This reminded me of taking the toddlers I work with outside the other day in a light rain. We had just filled the bird feeder and they sat on little chairs from a distance to see if the birds would come to eat. They didn’t. 😦 They must have been “caught up in the melody of the rain”.
