a fragrant noon breeze
the heady scent of lilacs –
a perfect spring day
then in this cherished moment
the buzz of a bumble bee

Beautiful Tanka, Pat! Have you considered submitting it to this week’s dVerse Poets’ MTB? I’m hosting there, and we’re sharing 5-line Japanese Poetic forms–including tanka! The prompt closes tonight.

Those look like white lilacs, yes? If so, I wonder if their perfume is as potent and the purple?

It’s a light purple. It’s very potent. It took a while for me to realize that glorious scent was coming from the lilacs.

Wow, kinda sneaky then–pale purple is MORE potent 🙂 I just love them, any color!
