At our first autumn gathering around the firepit the air is crisp. It is clear change is afoot in more ways than one.
The conversation is at once silly and heartfelt, as it can sometimes be among friends. Everyone just needs a break from all the turmoil.
My gaze move between the flicker of the flames, and the moon.
in the night sky
on this autumn night
the moon wears a mask
of drifting clouds
it comes, and it goes.

Pat, I got goosebumps reading your poem. Your last three lines, “the moon wears a mask, of drifting clouds, it comes, and it goes” really spoke to me of our much turmoil there is in our country right now. But, you point out that everything ebbs and flows just like those clouds over the moon… excellent! β€

Thank you Colleen π. It feels like I built this whole poem around that thought. Notice I didn’t know what to call it, lolπ.

Living in a red state, I feel bombarded with false propaganda all the time. It’s a constant search for the truth. It’s hard to stay positive, but we have to! LOL! Thanks for reminding me that this too shall change. β€
