I encountered this tall grass on my walk today. It was in one of those little sidewalk gardens situated directly in front of the owners home. On this bright, sunny day, the coolness was a reminder that autumn wore a chill. The gray had finally moved on.

the world is upside down
what the hell is going on
your draws is showing
your junk is exposed
nobody wants to see that part of you
put your junk back under cover
what makes your shit more important than everybody elses
what makes your cockeyed opinion more important than everybody elses
everybody has those
so stop doing crazy shit trying to put yours front and center
and get over yourself!!!!

Artist, Kenny Altidor
Took these photos on September, 24 this summer as I was driving around Brooklyn. The actor Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer this summer. May he rest in peace.

the tall maple is a shimmering yellow
the deep crunch beneath my feet
sounds mournful still
its twin to the left
was being gnawed at by rot
and had to be removed
since then I haven’t had the heart
to poach its sticky syrup
I will never forget the gasp escaping the earth
as huge sections of the trunk was felled
the house shook
