Time

My mom is at home on hospice care.  Her independence has been dealt a blow. Dementia reared its ugly head but, she forges on. At times she drifts.

in talks with long gone kin

peers across dimension

without much intension

a slip in time..

  1. Oh my goodness, Pat, I remember those slips in time from my own mum and you have my deepest sympathy. Dementia sips away at loved ones, takes them bit by bit long before they are truly gone.

  2. Awww. So sorry to hear this, Pat. May writing about it help you process all you are going through. I’ve read that sometimes it’s best to just enter their world, and go with it. I don’t have experience with this, but I can imagine how that might ease a scared mind.

  3. Oh, I’m so, so sorry, Pat. It is heartbreaking to see a vibrant person fade aways. Hugs to you.
Slips of time and talking to long dead kin–yes, it’s like another world. I went through some of this with my mom, too. The only good thing is that I feel like maybe she was comforted by thinking my dead father was with her.
