This Storm

raindrops on tin roof

is my calm within a storm

a soothing rhythm

ceases to calm in this storm –

wayward, unsettling times

This Uproar

this uproar

refuses to be hemmed in

nothing is even

in its wake

fallen norms

A Russle

(Took this photo in the park, a tree sanctuary. I often wonder how this shape came to be)

a quiet russle

grows to excited chatter

a swift breeze moves through

as I near the shaded grove

I pause at the sound of change

Justice

this angry spillage
this unyielding storm,
with new voices

will this be a cleansing?
it is time, it is time!

I wake staring at night sky
on this sleepless night

in the cool darkness, a peace
a setting free of worries

forging a path through
no shrinking from adversity
tulips in the midst
of a glorious spring fling
gone are thoughts of winter

Solace – Tanka Tuesday

wp-15842113703484658738355506910500.jpggazing at the moon

in the cool of this spring night-

moment of solace,

lower edge looks nibbled on,

a bit tattered, much like me

Love & Harmony

at the ocean’s edge..
eavesdropping on harmony
of wind and waves – I’m
tucked into their rhythm, that
hypnotic sway sounds like love

Revision:-

at the ocean’s edge
wind and waves move in concert –
as we greet the day
I’m tucked in their rhythm, that
hypnotic sway, such passion

Pat R

For Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge over at Colleen’s using synonyms for Love & Harmony
I used “Passion & In Concert” for more responses check here

Glimmer

a glimmer of spring –
once bare branches
of the pear tree
now clad in buds and
a smattering of sparrows

on the march through time
a complicated history
dreams morph to nightmares –

these tangled footprints still lure
in dreams in faraway lands
