By the fire, I watch flames leap around logs.
Before long, I am removed from surrounding antics
I find myself focused as I come to terms
with the passing of another year.
It feels different –
That cloak of darkness is absent.
I am grateful.
Carpe Diem #888 Hatsuhikari (first light of the sun)
This month at Carpe Diem Haiku we’re working on kigo ( season) words. That is, words that in this form of poetry is referring to the time of year.
In this episode the words are the ” first light of the sun”, which is kigo for winter.
first light of the sun … so fragile
reflects in the snow
I wasn’t planning on doing OctPoWriMo – (October Poetry Writing Month) but fate intervened. One of the prompt words or phrase was – New Beginnings. The above haiku was not written with this challenge in mind! And so it goes. Such happenings are getting more frequent in my day to day. It doesn’t freak me out anymore, I just go with the flow.
May the New Year bring you all the things that matter – good health, stability and humongous amounts of love. Also, all that you need, and more of what you want. To all who stopped by, liked, commented, followed…..thank you for your support.
