Moons of Autumn – Troiku

hidden agenda,

a full moon’s

rising tides

a full moon’s

signaling of the harvest –

a rice drying moon

hidden agenda

of migrating moon light –

lighting the way

rising tides

under falling leaves moon –

change is coming

Who knew the moons of October had so many different names:

Rice Drying Moon, Migrating Moon & Falling Leaves Moon.

This is a Troiku based on an older poem of mine.

The Troiku is a form created by Chèvrefeuille at

Troiku – Autumn

autumn gusts

swirling cloud of colors

tucked in autumns chill

……………………………………….

autumn gusts

the earth takes a turn

a time of renewal

……………………………………..

swirling cloud of colors

alive in the autumn sun –

the rustle tells the tale

……………………………………….

tucked in autumns chill

a gaggle of geese takes flight

squirrels run here, then there

on the credenza
birthday cake still in the box
first birthday party

flickering shadows –
the images of ancestors
cast by candle light

lighted by a candle
ancestors past and present
in whispered prayer

Autumn Reflections

Carpe Diem Special #185 Georgia’s first “Autumn Reflections” (Troiku)

The first Carpe Diem Special of December. This month’s featured haiku-poetess (and winner of our “peace of mind” – kukai)Georgia (a.k.a. Bastet) of Bastet and Sekhmets Library

TROIKU
autumn reflections
as I cross the sun warmed bridge
geese fly south (Bastet)

autumn reflections
the thunder of flapping wings
noisy flock heads south

as I cross the sun warmed bridge
seagull drop clam shell
then swoop down to feast

geese fly south
at the first chill in the winds
enroute to the sun

Inspired by this troiku authored by Bastet :

autumn reflections
as I cross the sun warmed bridge
geese fly south

autumn reflections
old man contemplates winter
under the hot sun

as I cross the sun warmed bridge
ducks laugh downstream
– diving for trout

geese fly south
the noisy swallows have gone
but the blackbird sings
(Bastet)

For Carpe Diem Haiku

Troiku

The goal is to write a haiku (the sleigh) and to write three new haiku (the horses) by using the three lines of the haiku (the sleigh).

shimmering
mirage
over desert road

shimmering image
nesting on glass and steel
in urban canyon

mirage dissipates
as I try for a closer look
continues journey

over desert road
tsunami of tumble weeds
steady summer wave

My troiku inspired by:

kageroo ya

hoshite wa nururu

ishi no ue

heat shimmers
dancing
over the stone
(Fukuda Choyo-ni)
