Thanks so much for both lots of info. I am amazed that such a thing existed and that the technology came from Russia. Now I’m curious as to why the fun park closed. We had one in Sydney Luna Park which had a section called Coney Island but it too closed for a number of reasons. I can feel a bit of research coming on. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
That whole area had fallen into decline. But a few diehard residents got together agitated and petitioned and now the area is well on its way back. Even the boardwalk was redone and the majority of the rides. It’s a popular tourist destination. People come from all over to go to Nathan’s. A lot of new restaurants as well. It’s not the Parachut Jump turn yet I guess.
Beautiful. You seem to know a bit about Coney Island. I posted a picture the other day of Coney Island taken in 1958. Perhaps you’d be able to tell me what the structure is in it. http://irenewaters19.com/2016/03/01/times-past-grainy-memories/ Thanks

Hi Irene, that’s the Parachut Jump. It still stands, though not functional
