Perspective

Time to escape to where nature’s rocky promenade meets blue sky. To be lost in panoramic views, while eavesdropping on the sounds of nature quiets my mind. Here’s to cleansing breaths and new perspectives.

For Tanka Tuesday over at Colleen’s our focus is specific form – a haibun with a photo from Frank J. Tassone for inspiration. To check further entries, to participate or to read more on the different types of haibun go here.

Off Color

My walks feel more like an escape from detention. So I find myself paying closer attention to the landscape. The park grounds keeper is clearly still struggling with this delayed upkeep. Wildflowers have taken over.

Often, I would come across a patch of yellow, with a pink one snuggled comfortably in their midst. How nice!

Garden Snail

Met this fellow in the park yesterday. He practically stood still for his closeup. Citified! I read somewhere that squirrels eat garden snails at times. Must be during times of ‘making do’. I’ve lived through a couple of those myself😊. Even so, what a way to go – inners gone, shell tossed.

as we move through time,

I breathe – you breathe

A Gogyohka for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday. A theme prompt in the words of Longfellow:-

“…In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!…”
OR
“…Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time…”
From his poem

A Psalm of Life
